Description
The Trust and associated company, Community Savings Ltd., were set up to help alleviate the problems of those on low incomes or in some other way are financially or socially deprived.

Anyone may open an account however, in order to benefit from its mutual style of operation or simply to support the aims of the organisation.

The Company operates on a similar basis to Credit Unions and subject to certain exemptions, does so within the terms of the Banking Business (Jersey) Law 1991. It is supervised by the Jersey Financial Services Commission

It is a self-help savings and loan co-operative that encourages members to save regularly, allows access to low interest rate loans and provides free financial advice and a mentoring service.

Our common interest groups are run by the members and any profit is paid to them or used for their benefit.

Opening hours are between 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Telephone contact may however, be made anytime during normal office hours.

To find out how to join a group or indeed to set up a new branch, please contact the Executive Officer or the Administrator.

Volunteer role
Our PARISH initiative would benefit from more volunteers with finance industry experience so if you want to help in your own Parish please let us know.

We also require a COMPANY SECRETARY for the Common Interest Groups and an ASSISTANT SECRETARY for CS Ltd.

Additional CASHIERS & SUPPORT OFFICERS, to provide increased levels of assistance to our members, would also be most welcome.

If you have some spare time and a business background and wish to contribute to the development of the business, for the benefit of our society, please contact the Chairman on 737555/482488/07797 717707.

Alternatively, write to him at the Company's offices or by e-mail at community.banking@tiscali.co.uk.

Volunteers commitment:
The time required in respect of the available voluntary positions is very flexible and in most cases could be anything from just one morning a week.
